I am looking to buy a bare bones system from accesmicro whtat is based on a Epox ep-8kha mobo with a athelon 1.33 chip. Can one have any expirence with this baord? it is based on teh VIA kt266AGP chipset. Teh system comes with the chip, baord, 128 mb of ddr 2100 ram, and an in-win 300w case, all for 370+ 25 or so shipping, sound like a good deal? i just ordered a 256 mb stick of crucial ddr 2100 ram to go with it

When going for a DDR system, I would stick with the proven AMD 760/761 chipsets. At least until the nForce comes out. I thought about an accessmicro bundle when I rebuilt my system earlier this summer, but decided against it when I found it came with Zues memory (I have never heard of them). I would say check into the 8K7A from EPoX before oredering, because it might suite your needs better.

Why?.....since Via KT266 chipset is very stable,I don`t know why people recommend AMD 760 chipset all the time since I think most use the Via southbridge on these boards anyway as for benchmarks they are now very close, getting back on subject the Epox EP8KHA is a great board all the reviews have been very good so is a good choice if you want a board right now.

Hey, don't scream at anyone who thinks twice before purchasing a mobo with a VIA chipset. Personally, I won't purchase another mainboard that has a trace of VIA. The numerous issues with their chipsets are inexcusable. I still don't understand why board manufacturers go to VIA to save a measly $20 or $25 on a chipset. I'd rather pay $50 extra to avoid VIA at all costs.

I love my 8K7A boards, but I still despise the 686B VIA South Bridge. I'd be far happier with the AMD-766 handling the southern district :D

KT266 has supposedly improved, but I'd highly recommend the 8K7A.
