Ive been considering this board. I havnt seen too much information about the onboard ethernet controllers for the ultra and sli. Since an ethernet card is somewhat important, I was wondering if any knowledgable people know much about onboard ethernet controllers. The ultra has the onboard VITESS VSC8201RX Gigabit Ethernet PHY. The SLI has a Cicada CIS8201 Gigabit Ethernet PHY. Which one is better? Or is one even better? Thanks.

It doesn't really matter. That board is nice looking. If only the ATX connector wasn't in the middle of the board.

Both are capable chips. I haven't had any problems with the one on my Ultra.

Ditto that. BTW, both chips are pretty well interchangeable. They are only functioning as the PHY anyway.

Either board is awesome, and highly recommended.

funny, how many boards from a major brand are highly recommended in forums. I have had serious trouble with the Epox Ultras ehternet, but who cares..

while the placement is a bit poor I don't think it is a deal breaker (in fact it didn't stop me from ordering mine)...reminiscent of the BH6 with its poor power placement..however a small price to pay for an affordable board that is rumored very reliable.
