I keep hearing that Crucial PC2700 512mb modules cause problems, as do some Kingston modules.

Does anyone have the specifics?

These compatibity problems exist? Yes/No

What are the symptoms?

Is it 100% of the time on 100% of the boards?

Is it only at certain tweaked RAM settings?

I have now built 3 systems using the 8RDA board with the following RAM configs:

1) 3 sticks Crucial PC2100 256mb
2) 2 sticks Crucial PC2700 256mb
3) 2 sticks Crucial PC2700 512mb

So far none have problems.

So, what's the real deal here?

I had 2 x 512MB PC2700 Kingston ValueRam with Infineon chips and I couldn't run with both sticks at 133MHz FSB in dual mode or single channel. I could run with one module installed at 145MHz FSB but no higher.

It was the memory. I was only one a few here and there are other forums out there with members reporting the same problems. One member here actually got a Kingston customer support tech to admit that there was a compatibility issue with nForce2 boards and Kingston ValueRam with Infineon chips.

That's the real deal.
