I'm interested in EPoX boards in general, and the EP-8KTA Socket A board in specific.. Anybody have any experiance with EPoX boards? Good/bad? How about the EP-8KTA? I'm not interested in over-clockability, I just want to know what people think of it. I couldn't find any reviews online, anybody know of some?

I have installed about 40 or so Epox and Tyan boards over the past year and they are in a network office environment using NT4 and where chosen for stability, not over clocking. They perform flawlessly.

I have no experience with the board you mention.

I have a friend getting this board for his Thunderbird 700 (Socket-A). I can let you know how the board performs.

That's good to hear, at least that EPoX boards are stable. I'd never heard of them until I stumbled upon it in a list of socket-A boards.

Eli-
That's awesome! When will they have it? I'm planning on ordering mine this week, barring any bad reviews.. Do you know what cooling they're using for the CPU? I'm aiming for a 900, and was wondering what sort of heatsinks/fans fit it..

Well I have the SlotA version, the 7KXA and it works fine. Even at 110 FSB. I don't think you can go wrong with Epox when it comes to just plain stabilty.

Doesn't the MSI board have the onboard SCSI controller...where are you ordering it from. I think I want one...I am also purchasing a T-Bird 900 or 950...

I have a K6-3 running on an Epox EP-58 MVP3. I've had absolutely no problems what so ever with it. If the EP-8KTA is anything like mine you should be very happy with it. :)

Lynn comp huh? I wouldn't bet on getting it soon. I ordered an athlon classic from them when it first came out and all they did was push the eta back. They may be the first on pricewatch but you can go there day after day and watch the eta keep getting pushed back. I finally cancelled my order and went somewhere else and got my athlon while they were still pushing back the eta. I'm just saying that I wouldn't count on them.

I don't know if this will help your current situation, but to give Epox a bit more credibility - I've used 2 "Socket 7" Epox motherboards and they've performed FLAWLESSLY... never a problem. Tripleshot's got it right, they're the the best overclockers or have the "fanciest" accessories, but they build solid motherboards.

I was thinking about ordering my Socket A 900 from lynncomp.com and then I changed to monarchcomputer.com....what do you guys think about them. I don't think they have any motherboards or fans/heatsinks though...

I found monarch to be cheaper for my chip, and I had another vendor priced out for the board (or maybe it was the other way around), but then I visited lynn computer and they had all 3 (chip, board, fan) that I wanted, and I generally find that ordering all from the same vendor ensures that everything arrives timely and it's just easier to manage. I've never had any experiance with lynn comp before, and at first I couldn't figure out how to order, 'cuz the link to the store is way at the bottom.. oh well.

I talked to Doug from Lynn Comp and he didn't seem to know much about when he was going to get anything in. That is what makes me nervous about ordering from the...but oh well. Does anyone know anyone that sells the MSI board...I can't seem to find anyone that sells it.

What chip/mobo did you order. I know that the fans arent supposed to arrive until mid July, and that the first mobo they get in will be the AZ-11 and it should come in around July 10...
