Does anyone here know the quality of these refurb motherboards @ newegg? I know that the refurb video cards from newegg are very pretty good.

Thanks

I've had good luck with most refurb MB's from Newegg, but I also got an Asus A7V133 that looked like someone chewed a corner off, literally. It's the kind of thing you'd expect Newegg to notice just by looking at it through the static bag. As such, I can only guess that they don't even bother looking at it, just pack it in a white box and sell it again. If it's broken, they take it back from you at no charge, so I guess losses on returns < gains on extra sales.

Anyone know what's the difference between this refurb ver1.3 and the newer ver2.0 of the motherboard?

I purchased one of these refurbs from newegg back in November. Works great. No problems.

It's kindof confusing, I almost did a double take also but there are a lot of 8kXX models out there. I think that the one that you are refering to is the 8KHA, not the 8KHA+ (+ means 266A chipset :) ). 8KHA+ new is 98 + shipping :(.

LepperBoy... you are looking a the 8KHA (KT266) for $73

The 8KHA+ (KT266A) is $98 + $7 shipping...

So this $69 price is a good deal!

they had the shuttle ak31 for $59 a while ago... KT266A.

got one, but the mobo was totally messed up... someone superglued the northbridge hsf to the chip itself because one of the clips broke and then resoldered some circuit lines near the cpu socket! grr... I am really turned off towards newegg refurb, especially mobos. dunno about their video cards yet though, so I might take another chance with their vid cards.

Yeah, hopefully this will turn out for us. This appears to be somewhat of a luck thing. I kindof feel bad because I just told some guys to not skimp on the power supply and look what I do....*embarassing*

LiLxJohnny: I've had BAD luck with Newegg refurb. motherboards: (1) Asus A7M266 Spent 2-3 weeks trying to get it to run, never did, then RMA; (2) DFI AK76-SN (KT266 chipset) worked first time out of box, still running, very good motherboard; (3) EPoX 8KHA+ would not post, or even come close - RMA - replaced with a retail one which worked immediately, and is great. So, my results: 1 good out of 3 (33%).

I don't believe these "refurbished" motherboards are tested or anything - otherwise I would not have received an 8KHA+ which would not post at all. Ya pays yur money and ya takes yur chances! This doesn't mean I will not try another one in the future, if shipping TO me is free, there is NO RESTOCKING fee, and they REIMBURSE me for the return SHIPPING of a BAD one.

breweyes: fishbonez is correct. Alpha PAL8045 works fine on 8KHA+. May have to move a capacitor SLIGHTLY, or slightly dremel the Alpha.

They still have 99+ in stock. Must have a lot of refurbs. I'm tempted. I have had mixed results with Newegg refurbs.

I've speculated about this before, I tend to agree.

wait a minute, so you're telling me they reimbursed you for return shipping on a bad board???? I just RMAed a refurb board (someone totally screwed up the USB ports), and I didn't hear anything about reimbursed shipping!:Q
