Does anyone have any horror stories about this board. Just sent for one to get a friend up and going. 950 Duron can be overclocked a tad can't they? Any feedback or coaching would be appreciated.

Great board. I was skeptical when I first orderd mine. When I first bought my Epox 8KHA+ I thought "How good can this board be, its less then a hundred bucks?" "Ill bet I will be yanking this sucker out and doing a fresh install about an hour after I get it installed." "Ill bet I will be taking this sucker to the shooting range." Lets just say I was wrong and I love my 8KHA+.

Typically when I do a MOBO change I F-Disk and do a fresh install. I did not do it when I first put in my 8KHA+ and everything went flawlessly and ran great for about a month when I screwed with Windows and had to reinstall. After I f-disked and reinstalled (due to my screw up not the boards) my computer runs great.

I havent unlocked my CPU yet. I was EASILY able to get my 1.2 Ghz T-Bird to 1.3 Ghz. Ill wait until I get an XP before I try more.

Run a search on EPOX 8KHA, I know there is a post on tweaks and tunes for the board. You and your friend will not be disapointed.

Hi,

I just recieved the EPOX 8kha+ motherboard yesterday. Switched my old EPOX 8kta2 for this new board, and booted the rig. When I booted my rig, Windows XP found the new hardware and started up perfectly. This board has runned without any problems at all. Other hardware: SB Audigy, Geforce 2MX/400, 3com 3c905 NIC, 256Mb PC2100 DDR-RAM, Athlon 700. This board seems to be a great choice, fast and stable. This board also have great overclocking facillities.

The Duron 950 can be overclocked a bit, how much depends on the cooling you provide for the chip and also the chip quality itself. Check: http://www.overclockers.com/ for information on this subject. It will also explain the CPU unlocking procedures and so on.

I just finished messing with a DOA Shuttle AK31 and a fried XP333...so, I decided to give it another try with the 8KHA+. Easy setup, no probs whatsoever, overclocked to 1.58 from 1.4. Chalk up another happy camper here.

If ya want a TON of info, check out amdmb.com's Epox forums and take a look at the tweaking and config guide at the top of the page. Tons and tons of info.
