I am trying to upgrade the CPU in this old board for a friend of the family. The manual states the board will accept any Pent, Cyrix, K6/K5 up to 333mhz. Their is an updated BIOS on the Epox website, but it doesn't list to any changes in cpu speed. The board uses a 66mhz fsb, so it doesn't look as if I could overclock anything. Does anyone have any experience or know of a good reference for this board? I would really like to buy a faster cup, but I can't find out if the board is overclocable or if I can stick anything larger than a K6-333 in it.

Thanks!

If that thing has jumpers for the multiplier and 2.2V CPU support, then you can very probably put a K6-2/400AFR in (no AFQ or AFX please, these consume too much power), and run at 6.0x 66 MHz by jumpering to 2.0x 66 MHz (since later K6-2 use the former 2.0x jumper setting for 6.0x).

Don't take it for granted though - the board's CPU power supply might not be up to feeding a 400 MHz CPU.

Cyrix-wise, MII-300 2.9V 66 MHz 3.5x is the fastest you can put in there.
