Epox ep-4pea+ and GeForce FX 5900 nu

Having problems with this combo of mobo and vid card. Anyone here using this combo?

With no drivers loaded, the card will show video on the monitor. But once I load the drivers and the system reboots, the monitor goes into standby.

I have taken the card over to a friends house and installed it on his computer... no problems. So I'm pretty sure it's not the card, unless it's a combo problem with this motherboard.

I have the latest bios, all the latest drivers. I did an install on a fresh installation of windows xp. All no go!

I'd like to not have to buy a new mobo if at all possible!

You should really try another Nvidia Videocard with those same drivers in that same system just to make sure your board isnt faulty. 🙂 if its a new system and you'v never had it working right then it sounds like your exchanging the board for a new one!

Make sure chipset drivers are updated and also your power supply is up to par. It shoud be AT least 350 watts or graeter

i use a 220w Power supply with my overclocked GeforceFX 5900 and my overclocked AthlonXP 2500 + and have been for the past 5 months without 1 single problem !! 🙂 also running a 7200 RPM 120GB hard drive and DVD burner + a few PCI cards the power is not the problem.

Thanks for the advice... I have been using a ti4200 in this system for nearly a year now. It works fine with the latest drivers. My power supply is a 400 watt, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'll change it out anyway and see if there's any difference. I have another 400 watter around here somewhere...

No go with the power supply... I swapped out my 400W with a 420W, just to
see if anything would change... nope.

What happens... the system will boot up just fine with the 5900 card in it,
using the Windows XP basic vga driver. But if I try to boot it up with the
Nvidia drivers loaded, it goes through the initial process of booting up,
then locks up just before XP comes up. It even shows the logo screen with
the scrolling green thing for XP, but just when it should finish booting...
I get a blank screen... actually, there is a blinking underscore symbol in
the upper left corner of my screen sometimes. And sometimes the screen is
just blank and then the monitor light turns amber(standby).

I have cleaned out the drivers and reloaded them... even did a clean
install, on a freshly formatted hard drive, of Windows XP. Same result
every time.

Could memory compatability be an issue? I'm using 1 gig(2 512 mb chips) of
Kingston HyperX PC3000.

Look like if I have to get a new mobo, I'll be leaning toward either an Asus
P4P800 Deluxe or an MSI NEO2-FIS2R.

what are you trying now btw?

Using the latest detonator drivers... also tried the previous release... and the release that came with the card.

I'm trying to install the BFG card by the way.
