problem with Epox EP-3VSA2 and a Tualatin processors 1.13a unable to load XP or any OS's

I just purchased a second hand Tualatin CPU on ebay, arrived ok.

The computer reported the CPU as a Pentium III Tualatin 1.13a GHz, tested oK with memtest-86 v3.0 for 5 hours. (5 passes)

But I was unable to load any operating system, I tried XP, 98SE and Linux. I have updated my Bios from Epox web site to (3VSA3522) , disabled all bios shadow, and cacheable settings for video, CPU, lowered memory speed to 100.

Bios was set reset to default setting before loading new CPU

In XP I would get so far, before looping back to the start, sometimes it reported hardware problem on Hard drive virus present. messages to disable all bios shadow, and cacheable settings for video, CPU etc

98SE reported error meassages that it was unable to load program.

Linux Mandriva LE 2005 started and then just rebooted.


I still was unable to get anything to work, tried for 5 hours

Any suggestion that I could try to get this CPU working?

I have replace the Tualatin CPU with my old coppermine 800hz, all working OK now.

Most likely it is because the BUS Speed is wrong.

Depending on which coppermine 800 chip you have,
it can either be 100 FSB(100*8) or 133 FSB(133*6) (800E or 800EB respectively)

Are there any jumpers to set the FSB on the motherboard?
