Epox Diagnostic LED

I have Epox EP9NPAJ mobo.

At present system won't boot, just black screens.

CPU temp was a bit high so have fixed that.

I notice the diagnostic led on the mobo goes to 'FF' when the system blackscreens.

I am presuming this means 'failure'

Can anyone, who hasn't lost their manual(!), confirm/advise, please?

Thanks indeed.

UK, weather is horrible.

it's standard Award POST code & FF is usually a good sign as it means that the mobo has done it's checks & is now looking to boot off something.

That's correct. I have an Epox 9NPA Ultra nforce4 board and FF by the manual means boot attempt.
If you have a case speaker does it give you 1 beep when your computer goes to FF? Besides the main power cord from the PSU do you also have the 4 pin power cord plugged into the MB? This will give you a black screen if you don't. Check the obvious too, sometimes it's no more then a loose video cable or video card not fully seated.
Bear with me, I'm starting with the basics since I don't know your degree of expertise.
If still a black screen:
1. Try clearing the CMOS: turn the system off, move the CMOS jumper from postion 1-2 to 2-3, wait a few minutes (some people like to give it at least 30), move the jumper back to position 1-2 and turn the sytem back on. If it starts to boot, hold the Del key down and in the bios Load Optimized Defaults.
2. If that didn't work, turn the system off, turn the power supply switch off, clear the CMOS, while the jumper is still on position 2-3, disconnect both power connectors from the MB, remove the button battery, wait at least 30 minutes (some people give it 3 hours or more), put the jumper back to position 1-2, battery back in, connect the power connectors, turn PSU back on, and power system up.
3. Still a black screen, try turning on the computer with only the CPU, video card, ram, and PSU installed.
4. Still a black screen, might be time to start hardware checking, although the post codes will usually indicate bad hardware.

FF means that the board has completed it's boot sequence normally. You WANT to see the FF code.
