Epox board problem really weird....

My system is a AthlonXP 2000+ thoroughbred, 512 RAM, gforce2mx400,
my problem is that the system hangs and restarts randomly... usually after an hour or so... usually during shutdown...
The system events viewer does not specify any error.

Got this board replaced by the supplier but still it came back the same. What could be the problem? there are no blown caps or anything on this board... actually its quite fast.

Thanks!

Have you run spy&adware checkers, as well as antivirus with definitions updated for all? Have you checked temps and that the psu isn't dying?

sounds like psu or memory problem, but could be a number of things, if you can, try using a better psu. If that doesn't help, try using 1 ram stick instead of two (assuming you're using 2 now). I think thats a good starting point.

Thanks guys 🙂 yup, finished every spyware available on the net. Currently using AVG free edition and just uninstall norton. Also using lavasoft, registry medic anf windoctor... sigh... still randomly hangs... doesnt show up on the event viewers in administrator tools. 😛
Yup, i have tried using single sticks ( but to no avail..) switched to a newer power supply. yet same effect.....

Sometimes the system runs for 7 hours and stable... it really gets a probelm printing large files to my A3 printer... heard and read a lot about PSU really caausing the problem (i believe its true) but i'm still puzzled at my case.

Thanks a lot from you guys!

I had an Epox 8RDA3+ some time ago and it was giving me some of the problems you mentionned. Most impotantly though, it was giving me freezing screens. EVERYTHING would freeze and i had to click on the reset button for them to fix. In the end, the mobo simply died.

Definetely do a BIOS update. And get an Enermax PSU 🙂
