My friend sold me his Epox 9NPA+ Ultra board since he got a DFI LanParty Ultra D (I have no idea why he would swap motherboards, but whatever). I ordered a 939 Opteron 165 (Denmark) from the Egg, threw it in, and nothing. I looked at the "supported CPU list" from Epox's website, and neither the Opteron 146 or 165 are listed, which is odd because my friend was previously using the Opteron 146 on the board. I did notice that a BIOS update released added dual core functionality to the board, but you'd think it would recognize the chip regardless? Is it possible that I need to somehow update the BIOS before the PC will display anything on the monitor?

The configuration only powers on after clearing the CMOS (fans start, no error LEDs, etc.), but when I just power off and power on, I get the LED saying "DIMM error". I know for a fact my memory is not bad, as I've used it in different PCs, as well as tried brand new DDR400 RAM. I've tried my Radeon X1950 XT as video, and a PCI Radeon 7500, and neither would get me video on the monitor. If anyone knows anything I don't regarding this issue, I'd appreciate it. My specs are as follows:

Antec SmartPower 2.0 500 watt PSU
Epox 9NPA+ Ultra
Opteron 165 (socket 939/Denmark core)
2x1gb Patriot DDR400, CL2
Radeon X1950 XT 512mb

it's ok, the lanparty UT Nf4 (ultra/sli/D/DR), doesn't support opteron officially either. But it work's like a charm
