Hi I just got my EPoX 9NPA-Ultra based system put together and got WinXP SP2 installed etc. Was trying to use the nVidia NVMonitor app and it tells me "Your system does not have BIOS support to launch NVMonitor.exe" and ends.

Have I configured something wrong ... or should I be using something else ? I got SpeedFan installed also ... it shows CPU Temp, etc ... but no fan speeds at all.

I've also tried installing USDM from EPoX and it states it doesn't suppor the MoBo. I tried installing MBM but it didn't have this MoBo listed.

Thanks

There is noting wrong with your configuration or system.

There is a couple reports that the latest BIOS 5804 somehow disabled Ntune. I do not use Ntune or NVMonitor so I can't confirm either way.

What I use is Lavalyst Everest Home Edition (free) which monitors MB, fans, Voltage, Memory and most of everything you would need to know.

Everest does not do OC or adjustment. It just monitors.

I suggest you OC manually through the BIOS following Zebo's OC guide.

The Epox 9NPA Ultra has among many nice features, an extremely useful feature called Smartfan. It's in your manual.

I have the Zalman cooler which came with a fan controller, Fanmate 2 with plenty of wiring. However I found the Epox Smartfan is not only adjustable but variable with the CPU temperature i.e. the fan speed increases or decreases depending on the CPU temperature needs. This is a feature that if you value quiet pc you would really appreciate it. I have never heard it mentioned at Anandtech forum, May be I missed the discussion.

USDM does not support 9NPA Ultra. Epox messed up on this one. Everest is infinitely better.

I have my eyes on the Dell 2405FP and an Athlon 64 X2 in the very future.

;)

Epox USDM definitely works with the board, I'm using it now with the 3/22/05 Bios. Maybe it became incompatible with one of the newer Bios versions. Same for Speedfan as it does show the fan speeds just fine on my board.

Be aware that there is no 12V monitor with this board, so anything that shows in Everest, Speedfan or Sandra is incorrect. According to Epox, this is a chipset limitation.

RobbyG, happy to hear that USDM works for you. For the last BIOS which I just tried again for the the hell of it, USDM DOES NOT work.

Everest and BIOS (the last one) CPU and system fan speeds read the same. So the 12 V monitor limitation or chipset limitation is a mystery for me.

Husky - like I said, it USDM must have been broken with a later BIOS release, most likely the first dual-core release. I don't doubt it doesn't work with your BIOS, just stating a fact that it does work with the 03/22/05 Bios.

The lack of a 12V monitor has nothing to do with fan speeds - I'm talking about the Voltage monitor.

USDM works as long as you install the one that came with it (CD).. The one on the WEB doesn't work.
