EPoX 9NPA+ Ultra Audio configuration

I have the realtek manager/driver installed as the nforce drivers/nvmixer said they were not supported. I'm using the onboard optical S/PDIF output to my home stereo receiver.

On previous motherboards I was able to take a program such as VLC Media Player and WinDVD and output the audio via S/PDIF on those programs to the receiver and have other things use the analog audio to my computer speakers. Now I can only get BOTH the S/PDIF and analog outputs to give sound, which will not let me watch a movie and listen to it through my receiver and have different sounds such as AIM sounds come through my regular speakers.

I cannot seem to get it to work with this motherboard. Has anybody done this on this particular motherboard that can help me out?
