EPoX 9NPA+Ultra and a Thermalright XP-120 heatsink

Can anyone confirm that the big new heatpipe heatsink fits this board? Or is it true that it blocks DIMM 1? I assume that if it does block DIMM 1, you can still use only DIMMs 3&4 in Dual Channel mode?

I don't know if it will block or not. I have the mobo in question, and I can tell you that if you want run dual channel, you can do it either with DIMMs 1 and 2 or 3 and 4. If you want to run dual with all four populated, and the XP-120 heatsink happens to block DIMM one, you are not going to get what you want.

How do you like the board otherwise? Good and stable? How's the stock chipset fan - loud or not so bad? Or did you replace with a passive HS?

I "think" (not sure) 9NPA+ Ultra in conjunction with Thermalright's XP-120 and Brain Power PCBs Memory can work without problem.

The memories on the pics look like JEDEC PCBs. You can see the layout differences between Brain Power and JEDEC PCBs on the following link:

One more thing,

Usually, XP-120 with a 120 mm mounted fan will exceed 450g limit especified by AMD and Intel.

Maybe a solution is to use a Zalman's FB123 kit with a 120 mm fan of your choice.

I will be having a system built using the EPoX 9NPA+Ultra this coming week! I hope the Bios is able to detect the San Diego core Athlon 64 3700+ CPU. Anyone know?

I think ChicagoPCGuy said the chipset Fan was not too noisy compared to other Nforce4 boards! Also from the reviews I have read they all say the board is VERY Stable!

 
The chipset fan isn't loud at all. They use the same heatsink on the 9NDA3+ and I have no problem leaving it plugged in.

It's well likely with bios 9npa5322.
9npa+ ultra bios suporting Rev E
Anandtech: AMD Athlon 64 Revision E adds SSE3 Support

However, don't know which bios your board will have at stock and what procedure to take to update.
