I have a SATA2 hitachi drive and it's reported in windows as SATA1 - is there a setting somewhere to change it to SATA2?

dahuang,

From what I understand, you have to download some utility off of Hitachi's site called "Feature Tool" and use that to switch it to SATA2.

dahuang1, educate me. Where in Windows (I'm assuming XP) is your hard drive identified as being a SATA drive?

TIA,

Crucibelle is correct. You can download it here.
On my nforce4 board under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers in Device Manager if I right click on NVIDIA nforce4 ADMA Controller, under Properties, Primary Channel (where I have my Hitachi HDT722525DLA380 SATA 2 drive) the Tranfer Mode is listed as Serial ATA Generation 2 - 3G. Before using Hitachi's Feature Tool it was listed as 1.5G.
