I am putting together a new pc for recording off television and for gaming. I don't need the fastest stuff out there, but wanted something I can use for a few years minimum. I am also fond of Athlon processors as I have never had a problem with an Athlon processor on any of my previous builds.
I was going to get the Epox 8RDA6+Pro MB, which supports SATA. Am I correct in saying that SATA is better than even ATA133 connections? Also, the MB supports Dual channel DDR. What is meant by this? I have seen DDR2, which is supposedly 200 pin, but haven't heard of Dual channel DDR. Is this the same stuff they used to just call DDR memory?
Also, and non related to the MB, I need advice on if these components should work. Athlon 2800+ processor. Crucial memory (the stuff linked to in the tests I read on the home page for $69 a stick of 256) and an ATI Radion All in wonder 9600 video card. Also looking at a SATA hard drive or two in the 80-120 gig range if the SATA is a better setup than IDE.
