EPoX 8RDA6+ Pro: How do I get the SI 3114 to just let me put 4 additional drives in the system without raid?

I want to add 4 more additional drives to the system on the 4 availble sata ports but I don't want to run them in raid but I can't figure out how to get it to work. I've tried doing fresh installs of windows but to no avail. I'm running xp pro with a 400 gig seagate sata and 250 gig seagate sata on the 2 nvidia sata ports as separate drives, and I have one additional 250 gig sata seagate on one of the 4 remaining si 3114 controller sata ports. I just want the drives to show up as extra drives, no raid, etc but I can't get it to show up in windows at all! Have tried installing the software, to no avail. Someone please help me!

There's usually a setting you can change in the BIOS that will enable/disable RAID support for the second SATA controller (as well as choosing whether to have that controller enabled at all). Make sure the Sil3114 is turned on and NOT set for RAID mode, and then Windows should be able to see the drives as normal.

well it was already like that but i double checked, and no good. still can't see them in windows??? i dont' want to run them as jbod cause i want to leave some space empty on them instead of filling it up completely. i doubt though having the 2 250 gigs on it would matter if i can't see one why should i be able to see both? 🙁

anyone else have anything different, like a different idea for me to try? lol

you have to initalize them on the controler in its bios each as its own seperate array and you have to make sure you have the correct SI drivers loaded to get windows to rec. the drives.

i've tried that. i'm using hte driver that came with the cd, its a raid driver. since there's only one drive, and i'm running it as jbod, is that why its not working? what other driver could i use with this?
