i brought the EPox 8RDA+ and everything ran fine, but when i used speedfan and mdm to check the temp of my computer it read, 49 degree for the cpu temp. Is this normal????? I don't want to mess my cpu up.

EPox 8RDA+
AMD xp 2000+
512 2100 kingston ddr ram
ge force 4 64mb ti4200

What heatsink/fan assembly are you using to cool your CPU? If you are using a non-premium setup then I'd say your temps are normal and fine. 49C is well within the thermal tolerances of the AthlonXP chips (AMD recommends keeping them below 65C).

I don't think it's really "prudent" to forget what the manufacturer recommends. And it's not like their advice on thermal management is restrictive on the operation of the CPU.

My CPU is 49 degrees of course it would be cooler if ambient temp. wasn't so high. It's around 36 degrees in the case. So your just fine

My 8RDA+ gave CPU temps of 44C to 45C, with a Palomino-core 1700+ and an Alpha PAL8045 with a Panaflo L1A. That's pretty deluxe cooling for a medium-heat CPU, so if you get 49C, that sounds quite reasonable.

Since motherboard calibration varies wildly from board to board and even changes with BIOS updates sometimes, it's usually futile to try to compare your temperatures to the temps another user is getting unless they have the same board that you do, and sometimes it will still vary depending on the BIOS revision (Asus A7V333's are a case in point).

I have an EPoX 8RDA+ too with an XP 2100+ Tbred B topped by an SK-7 and a Panaflo L1A. My temps are mid to high 40's as well. I've been wondering the same thing as some have very similar setups and claim to get mid 30's on their CPU. Hmmmm....

Yes temps should go up under load. I think for a plain hs fan setup. You need an air conditioned room or live somewhere very cold to get in the 30's

In addition, i got a antec psu 380 truepower and i've checked the voltage with speed fan. The readings
12 v reads 11.6
5 v reads 4.6
3 v reads 2.6!!!
is this normal??? and if possible do anyone know what these voltage means? I am a newbie with building computers so these questions might sound stupid. sorry
