I would like to get sound my soundstrom sound on my mothyerboard to have a independant line in and mic plugs, however I have not found exactly how to do this, I want it to be a normal sterio type jack. I found this guide, but it's not the right kind of jack and I think it's for another sound output in RCA form or something.

Reading the manual, it doesn't appear you can use both analog 4 or 6 channel audio as well as have independent mic/line in. There are only 3 jacks on the thing, two of them go to speakers in 4 channel, the other gets used for whatever, and all 3 are used in 6-channel mode.

In plain stereo mode, only the green jack is used, the pink and blue jacks are for mic-in and line-in.

You can use 6-channel mode AND have a front panel mic-in jack using the headers on the board, but you can't make a separate line-in function, and you can't make the pink jack turn to line-in while using 4-channel.

You can order the digital adapter if you have digital speakers and that will free the other jacks. The adapter is what has the RCA connector on it for SPDIF output. Actually, I read that again more fully, and it doesn't appear you can even get an RCA (coax) jack output, only optical. But I did find that the EP-SPD0C seems to support coax.

Just one minor thing I noticed on that site:

Asus has never been known for quality in general.

Uh...huh.

lol ur the person that linked me to that site a while back ;), anyways what I need line in for is my TV/FM tuner card, so would I be able to somehow get sound through CD-IN by any chance? There's gotta be someway to do this. Is there an adaptor to hook an analog system up through digital?

Nope. :) Digital input requires something to actually encode it, so you'd have to like go out to a receiver-type device then back in. Sounds like you're pretty much screwed. Go Epox. :)

Some TV card's have internal connectors to allow you to hook it up to the AUX connector on a sound card. Since XP doesn't need to use the CD-IN connector to play CDs, you can also just use that port. But that's dependent on the TV card having such an output, and dependent on it actually working. I was never able to make that work on my system but I didn't try very hard. I suppose you could also rig up an adaptor of some sort to connect the line-out from the TV card to a regular analog audio cable for the CD/AUX port internally. It's just stereo output.

I got the Leadtek Tv Tuner Deluxe XP, so yeah no internal connectors :'(, damn I was hoping to be able to make use of this onboard sound! Mainly because I think it might help speed up games a decent bit over my Sound Blaster Live. If you know of any way to convert analog to digital easily i'd like ta know maybe radioshack or somewhere would have something to do just that but i dun know.
