I am using the onboard sound through the rear interface, and everytime my machine boots a VERY loud beep (normally played through the system speaker) goes through my headphones. It is not good. Anyone had any luck disabling/lowering this?

Thanks.

Yes, you can disable it, but you have to update your bios to do so.
Go to epox.com, get the bios dated 12/10 (only one there for the 8rda+), install it, then go into 'Integrated Peripherals' in the bios. There will be an option called 'AC97 at Post'. Change that to 'Disabled' and the system beep will go through the system speaker (if you have one attached to the mobo) instead of the sound card.

Oh man, I hear ya on that damn beep...it's too freakin loud with two sets of Promedia 4.1's... ;)

It's easily fixed however...in the bios. In the integrated peripherals section, there is an option called "AC97 Speaker At Post" that you need to disable. That should solve your problems..

:)

Edit: D'oh..beaten to it. ;)

Thanks - I will update the BIOS and change that setting.

My primary speaker set is headphones (I live in an apartment with thin walls) so that beep was threatening to cause some serious damage, not just to my ears, but think about hearing that at 3AM after playing UT2003 for 6 hours.
