With a recent system build, I found that a single stick of Infineon (OEM) 512MB PC2700 (7-3-3-2.5) was causing stability issues while running 3D apps. The RAM will be RMA'ed, and I need to find a reliable and stable replacement. I'm still looking for 512MB of PC2700.

Now, if I recall correctly, didn't the 8RDA+ have issues with single sticks of 512MB PC2700? Is it a better bet to go with two sticks of 256MB? And what brands should I avoid/consider for this mobo?

Thanks.

Not ALL 512MB PC2700. Just Crucial and Kingston's ValueRAM line. Everything else (even Kingston's other line, HyperX) seems fine for everyone.

Mushkin black,TwinMOS winbond and Buffalo winbond pc3200 & 3700 all work great on the nforce2, the 256 sticks will OC much higher!

What about the Mushkin Blue Line stuff? The Black is too expensive.

The OCZ Performance Series looks good, too. Or maybe two sticks of Kingston Hyper X.

I should mention I have no intentions of overclocking. I just want stable RAM.

I'm looking at:

2x 256MB OCZ Performance Series PC2700 Rev. 3.2 DDR 333MHz (CL 2-2-2-5-1 timings) - $168 CAD
2x 256MB Kingston Hyper X PC2700 DDR 333MHz (CL 2-2-2-5-1 timings) - $176 CAD

The two sticks of Muskin Blue, which I'm no longer interested in, would be $163.52 CAD.

I recommend the OCZ PC3200 CAS2. I have a 512Mb stick and I am very happy with it.
