>The AC97 is just an interface between the codec and the actual nVidia SoundStorm solution.
Are you telling me that SoundStorm will feed through the AC97.... I find that very hard to believe.
This is what I got from Fudo who wrote the article.
"Nvidia said that every motherboard that will have Sound Storm features will have Sound storm brand in name and that should eliminate confusion. hope it helps"
P.S. First part is Nforce 2 ingeneral and second is specific retal product
Fudo
>That would be odd that EPoX would only provide an AC97 solution....... whats the deal?
This is really bizzare because how can you feed the Soundstorm through AC97 and ontop of that through an Optical connection.
On the Asus board you'll find something like this.
Realtek® ALC650 6CH w/built in HP amplifier
Integrated APU (Audio Processor Unit, Deluxe Model)
SoundStorm? / Dolby® Digital (AC-3) Encoder (Deluxe Model)
On the
Epox Site you'll also find that it has the Realtek ALC650E 6-channel full-duplex integrated sound.
Now the Question is. How can an 8RDA+ board with the MCP-T southbridge pop up with AC97 sound and not the Realtek ALC650E. That's what I'd like to know.
"Different manufacturers will decide which features to include on their boards, particularly so in the case of the South Bridge features."
If it's product specific how do you know you'll be buying an MCP-T with Realtek ALC650E or AC97. Are they making some 8RDA+'s with Realtek ALC650E and some with AC97 ???
Weird.
