EpOx 8RDA+ and post code C1/C0/FF

Ok, I've posted this several times, ya'll are probably sick of hearing about it. 😛

Here's the deal. I was doing something that was completely unrelated to messing with my computer (plugging a cable into a router). I sit back down after standing up for no more than 20 seconds. Screen is blank. Nothing. Light on the monitor tells me there's no signal. Great, I thought. So I rebooted. No video. Did this several times, and nothing.

Pulled my 9600 Pro out a few times to reseat it, dust it off, etc. All other optical drives and CPU and case fans are firing up on boot. Now I can't even get it to boot. Post code C1/C0 keeps popping up.

I did check the manual, but I have no idea what C1/C0 are telling me. It makes no sense. Seems to be something with the RAM.

EDIT: It also sometimes just stays at FF and beeps anyway.
How would my 512 stick of Corsair XMS just SUDDENLY go bad? Especially in the middle of something that was not CPU or memory intensive?

I guess my question is: Is it likely that the RAM is the problem? Also, the heatsink fan on my 9600 doesn't spin. Is the card dead? The ram bad? Help!

I've seen this happen before.. check the motherboard for signs of bad/leaky capacitors. All it took for me was a single capacitor replacement to get my board working perfectly again (of course I replaced it myself since I voided the warranty with some mods already 😉). If this is the case and you still have warranty, contact epox to replace it. 🙂

Update:

I've tried another stick of DDR and I get the same beeping. I have no idea what is wrong. The code is C1 most of the time (sometimes FF, rarely C0), but that translates to bad RAM or something. And I know I tried a working stick of RAM, my friend just brought it over from his computer.

How would I tell if a capacitor is leaky/bad?

I read through the info in your linked thread; I'm having the same problem but not related to installation of new hardware. My MB just suddenly started displaying the C1 code and won't boot. I have tried swapping out the RAM with no change. I'm thinking bad component on the MB? I see here that someone was able to identify a bad/leaky capacitor; I guess i need to dust off my multimeter to try the same thing? I lack the detailed knowledge or references on the MB schematics, however. Anyone have any suggestions to help?

I guess an alternative is to send the MB off to Epox for repair. Does anyone have any experience with that? It might be cheaper to buy a new MB, this one has exactly the features I require (and I love it) but I can't find it for sale anywhere anymore. So, any thoughts on replacement or service, which is a better route?

Thanks for feedback...

HELP, My PC just crapped out while I was browsing, the computer remained on ,but I got no signal to my monitors. I shut it down and then I started getting C1 on my Epox8rda+ and sometimes FF but still no signal to monitor. AHHHH!

This may be a stupid suggestion, but I had an Epox 8RDA for a while and when I had trouble, I would pop the BIOS battery out, pull the wall plug and let it sit a while then reboot. Fixed problems more than once.
