I posted this in the mobo forum, too, but I hope someone here can help. Thanks!

I just got a new 8KTA3 and put it in my case. I hooked everything up, powered up, and got the C1 error code (using the diagnostic LED). The manual says that it is a problem with the "Auto-detection of onboard DRAM & Cache". I have tried 2 diff. video cards, diff. RAM, diff. combinations of everything (hdd, cdrom, zip) plugged and unplugged, I pulled the ISA modem, tried a diff. CPU...all of this to no avail. I even moved the DIMMs to each of the 4 different slots. Slot 1 and 4 give me a single beep about every 3 to 4 seconds, slots 2 and 3 just give me the C1 error with no beep. Please let me know if anyone has had this issue or if there is a work around. Please tell me the board is not bad!!!

UPDATE:

I noticed a small scratch in the PCB between DIMM slot 1 and the CPU socket. It goes right across the little "trails" from the DIMM slots to the CPU. I'm betting that is it. Does anyone know if I can simply fill in the scratch with my conductive pen? Could that cause a problem? Thanks.
