Help guys!!

I'm running a massively unstable Windows 2K build on my new Epox 8KTA3/Duron/Quantum30gig setup. I've installed sp1, 4in1, bus master drivers, you name it, and I still get a I/O Error on bootup that looks similar to this: 00008X0006. The machine looks stable for a few days, then when you start it up out of the blue it gives a bootup error saying that my startup options have been corrupted.

This error also shows up when I try to install Win2k. Do I have a driver problem? Is there some sort of special Highpoint controller drivers that I need to install?

Note I /am/ running an overclocked system - BUT I have already redoing the build with all the bios settings to default.

Any comments on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Does that occur before windows kicks in?
At POST?
At the time of drive recognition?

I'm no expert, but I think that running an unstable windows build is just going to cause you headaches. You'll never know the real source of the problems since you have to many variables.

The board, the software, the o/c issue.

It occurs when windows is first being setup (at the blue cd setup screen), and it also shows up every time the computer boots, right after the first win2k startup screen appears (fully black screen with white loader bar at bottom)

There are reports of major problems with the new 4in1 drivers version 4.28 and windows 2K.
If you have windows 2K, the word on the web is don't use 4.28.

I went through the same nightmare with my Win2K Server!!! I ended up unstalling the Via Bus Mastering driver(uninstallible in Add/Remove programs) and went back to the good old Primary and Secondary IDE busses. I got the exact same error as you , but mine started to create I/O errors with ALL of my IDE devices and caused eventual memory(blue screen) dumps. with the 2 Via BM Ultra DMA Channels replaced with the default primary and secondary IDE busses everything works great. Only thing to add is all my IDE devices work in PIO made and it doesn't appear that DMA will enable. Also note that in Win2K with the Via drivers your IDE devices MAY appear as SCSI(just ignore it as it is just a bug)
