EPoX 8KHA+ Stability Trouble with 3 DIMMs

Does anyone else have trouble achieving stability with all 3 DIMMs populated in their EPoX 8KHA+?

For some reason I get BSODs periodically when I have all 3 populated. Increasing the memory voltage to 2.8 seems to help, but I don't like doing that. 2.6 or 2.7 is fine with me, but 2.8 is pushing it.

this was a known issue with this particular mobo for the longest time. i think it had something to do with only being able to properly handle (buffer?) 4 banks of memory. the problem in your case, might stem from your first two memory modules using up this buffer, having double-banks each... leaving the 3rd memory module SOL.

of course, i am just trying to regurgitate what people were saying 2 years ago, so i might be getting some of the facts wrong...

Damn, well I will just have to live with 512MB of memory until I get a new motherboard then. Oh well. I probably won't notice any performance difference anyway. Now I can go back to 4-bank interleave, aggressive timings, etc. and sell off the other 256MB DIMM.

That's probably a good idea. My bro's 8KHA+ system is stable with two pieces of 256MB ram. One is some cheesy Spectek with fake MT chips on it and another is Kingston valueram with nonbranded chips.

SpecTek is made by Micron 😀

Well, my original two sticks are Crucial, and so is the 3rd. Although the 3rd stick is slightly different; it uses higher density chips. Maybe I'll try some overclocking again now that my system is running stable. Who wants to be a 256MB stick of Curcial PC2100?
