I quite a bit of research when i bought my kit. Chose the 8KHA+ based on stability, cost and its overclocking possibilities.

It had enough basic features and didnt have much that i didnt need like RAID but I never really looked past that. I know that its bios is nice and flexible with voltages, a near trade-mark of EPoX now. I would like to know some of the more advanced features 'to master the board' so to speak. One thing that im interested is where the CPU sensor picks up from. EPoX will probably be on holiday and you guys like helping people so i think ill get a quicker response and have the chance to help someone else.

If it reads from the CPU probe itself then Im confused as to why the bios reading would be as low as about 42C as ive heard they are usually higher than that.

Any information or correction or addition for that matter is helpful.

It does read from the CPU core on CPUs which have thermal diodes in them, and on the ones that don't, it uses a socket thermistor. It could also be that EPoX has either updated the BIOS so that the end user can't see the on-core temperature, or revised the board itself to do the same. The reason they'd want to take away such a nifty feature is that people were stressing over the honest temperature readings, which were typically in the 55-70°C area. They had gotten used to lower readings, and this caused a lot of RMA's, which surely hurt them.

bought a refurb from newegg a few months ago, ran fine with a 1600xp at 166fsb. funny thing is that board doesnt' have a 1/5 divider so I don't really know how all my pci, agp is running so far off specs. anyway, now it's running a 2400xp at 150fsb. love this board. but If I can go back, I probably would've gotten a 8k3a+.
