My 8KHA+ w/ 512MB Crucial PC2100, Athlon XP1600+, PAL 8045, Antec SX840, and WinXP won't display any video and doesn't boot completely. First boot I got to code 75. I pushed on all connections a little (if that did anything), and on the 2nd boot (and every other boot after), it got to 7F (the next code past 75). For 7F, the manual says:
"Switch back to text mode if full screen logo is supported.
-If errors occur, blah blah..."

What is this?

I've unlocked the Athlon w/ window defogger repair paint and this is the first time trying it and the RAM. I wanted to see if anyone knew what these codes meant before I went through the trouble of removing a Tbird from another PC to try in it.
It's got the U= bios chip. Could a bios flash possible fix this?

"7F" I get that all the time but on my 8K7A it just means my Floppy failed (happens all and off it is the Mobo 4 sure tried many cables and floppies)... I would think most codes are the same but I am pretty Fing tired of not having a floppy to count on.

Trying to figure out exactly what you typed. Are you saying my mobo is bad?
How did you relate 7F to the floppy? The manual say for 7F "Switch back to text mode if full screen logo is supported. -If errors occur, blah blah..." (whatever this means).
It says 6F is Initialize floppy controller.

The no video problem was my Visiontek GF3 Ti200. My monitor senses the signal from it and switches it's input to it (dual input monitor), but absolutely no video. I tried a Radeon from another system and it worked.

But, the error that I can now see on the screen (which is also the 7F error code the mobo displays) is:

"Floppy disks fail (40)"
"CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded"

That 2nd line only showed up the first time or two and I only have the floppy error msg now.

I've tried a new drive, and cable. The error even shows up if I remove the floppy connector from the mobo (maybe it's supposed to). I can disable the floppy on the first BIOS screen and it doesn't appear (though WinXP blue screens...its an installation done on my ECS K7S5A mobo, and is just for testing).

Is my mobo bad?

It only showed that msg the first time or two I booted (not sure when it went away). Are you saying clearing will fix the error msg about the floppy that I still have?

I cannot say for sure that your motherboard is bad. But the blue screen may be OK because it was an installation with another motherboard. You really have to do a fresh install when changing motherboards. I seem to remember a past issue with floppies and the 8KHA+, but I don't remember the details. You may want to read the 8KHA+ thread.
BTW. 7F is the code you get with the floppy error. If you press F1 to continue (or whichever key the BIOS tells you to hit) the code should change to FF and the system will boot.

I ended up turning the floppy connector around backwards and it worked. At first I had it plugged in the way I've always done it. Why the heck is it reversed?
It can only go one way on the mobo because of the tab, so I reversed it at the drive. And I had tried a couple drives so its not the FDD that's reversed.
