Epox 8KHA+ no post - C1 memory code

Bought Newegg refurb board, installed it, no problems at all, life is good. Life was so good in fact I decided to splurge and upgrade my Antec 300W'er to the high zoot Antec 400W'er. At the same time as this, I pulled the board to change out the I/O panel. Put everything back together only to get this damn C1 post error. Manual states C1 is memory error which is strange since I never removed the memory during the upgrade. Pulled the memory, reinstalled it...no go. Removed the memory again (two 256MB Crucial 2100 DIMM's), installed only one...no go. Moved memory to different (every different!) socket...no go. Pushed so damn hard installing the memory my fingers hurt. Oh, forgot to mention, stripped the system of all cards except video and went back to tried and true 300W power supply.

I give up. Any ideas?

Did you try resetting the bios via the motherboard jumpers?

Yes I did. Cleared CMOS no less than three times - learned my lesson with the ECS K7S5A!

Someone please help, my 30 day warranty clock is ticking away fast.

If that does not work try the board out of the case and see if you still get the C1 message.

Take the board out and clean the memory slots with some "bottled air", wipe the memory module contacts with alcohol or acetone and reinstall the modules with the board on a hard anti-stat surface. You may have moved some dust around and caused some contacts to be comprimised. This will ensure good contacts are made. If this doesn't work you may have an RMA on your hands.

Ok, tried the board outside the case with same result. Cleaned the memory and slots...same.

Time to RMA I think. Maybe there IS a reason refurb boards are cheaper.

EDIT: Just filled out the newegg RMA request form. Form stated that I would be notified within 2 days if RMA is accepted. Sure would be nice to get this thing working before having to pay return shipping.

Is anyone else freaked out by the way the memory "crunches" into the slots on the 8KHA+? I felt like I was destroying something as I was putting in my RAM. All the scraping and crunching sounds........Freaky. Works great, tho.

I didn't like the sound either. I was builing it for my friend, and kind of ignored the sound when installing the RAM as not to alarm him, but it was not a pleasant sound to me. It worked fine also.

Funny you should say that since when I installed my Crucial ram it when in too easy and real quiet,I thought I had done something wrong but it booted up fine the first time .

I to didn't like the crunching sound that wa smade when I installed the memory but the system booted up fine and life is good. I don't plan of messing with it anytime soon.
