EPoX 8KHA+ game port issues?

I just bought a V3 Racing Wheel from BB, and it uses the gameport. After lots of configging, when I try to add the controller, it adds, then it shows up as "not connected," but it occasionally reverts to connected. When I try to access the controller properties when it says "ok", it tells me that my game controller isn't connected properly. I've gotten the same errors with another gameport controller.

Is there a way to diagnose the gameport? Are there bios settings in the 8KHA+ that I need to mess with? I have the integrated sound off and the gameport assigned to address 201 (I think).
 
I had a board that would do the same thing when overclocked. If your not overclocked then updated port drivers may resolve the issue. If possible you should consider exchanging the wheel for a usb device.
