Epox 8kha+ error L1??? help

I recently purchased this board, a 1700XP athlon, 256mb DDR crucial ram and a new amd approved powersupply. When I try and boot there is a constant beeping and the Error L1 comes up on the debug display and it isnt listed in the book. Epox's tech support didnt help in the least and I am about to send it back. I know the CPU works after testing it in a friends motherboard.

Any suggestions?

Since the error codes are in hex you might want to check if the LED segment on the top of first digit is working. You might be getting a C1. This indicates a memory error, which is consistent with the beep codes you are getting. The 8KHA+ can have some very touching memory sockets. They require a good amount of pressure to actually seat the sticks properly. You should here a crunching sound when they are in all the way. So try reseating the memory and see where that gets you.

I'm pretty sure the constant beeping means something's wrong with the ram... However I'm not quite sure what L1 means. Check the manual that came with ur mobo n it should have a list of the hex codes n what they mean in Appendix B. Hope dat helps =)

got the same board, going great.
We did have the same problem with a FIC board, turned out that we had a case screw in the wrong place which was touching the bottom of the board....kinda shorting it out of you know what I mean? when we took the board out it booted lovely.....my mate talks to me again!

Good luck, other problems could be ram crap or not correctly install as also Chip (or the unthinkable, an overheated or dead chip!!!!!!)

Coz there is no L1...check again the LED display on the mobo.
