This my second Epox 8kha motherboards in a week and both give "disk I/O" errors on the FD when booting. I've checked both the cables and the drives by swapping them with other working PC's. There are no PCI cards in the system and plenty of IRQs available. I've also cleared the CMOS several times and tweaked everthing I could think of in the Bios.

Does anybody know what's going on here?

no, it goes on for a second and then its off and the board just sits there. The light staying on all the time would make it sound like the cable was reversed. I tried that already. Also the Bios does recongize the drive being there, just gives me an error on boot.

HELP

It is a pain in the ass to RMA a floppy drive. I think mine is broken. On one hand I dont want to RMA, and on the other hand, I dont want to spend $15 for a new one. At some point i'll have to decide if I cant fix it.

Floppy drives on the 8K7A and most likely the 8KHA will not work when the FSB is not @ the default speed. On my 8K7A, I need to drop the FSB back to 133mhz before the floppy will work. There have been several people that have this problem. I rarely use my drive, so it's not a big deal for me. Give that a try...

I've tried three different FD's and three cables. I'm going to try the FSB thing. I'll be back

no overclock, this one is my server box running default 133*10 with a Tbird 1.33. The FSB thing didn't work any other ideas.

Check the pins on the back of the floppy and the motherboards floppy port..sometimes one gets bent out of position...
