Epox 8KHA+ Case Connections

Hopefully I can find some help here... :)

I've built PCs before and they run stable, efficient, etc. However, I *always* have trouble w/ those stupid LED connecters that go from the case to the Mobo. I recently just upgraded to an AMD AthlonXP 1800+ CPU and Epox Mobo and can't seem to get anything but the reset switch and power switch to work. No LEDs. Can anyone help me out a bit?

Also, I have an optical mouse that lights up when power is running to it, and even when I shut down the PC, it stays lit. Does the Epox board carry power even though it's shut off?

Thanks for helping with the newb questions!

Try reversing the polarity on the LED's. Also the optical mouse will stay lit unless you plug it into a USB port ...no other fix available.

Reversing Polatity = Switching the connectors around so the print is facing the opposite direction? How do I know which one is the ground wire when say, the two colors are red and white? I know black usually denotes ground, but when all the cables have white + some other color, does that mean the white is the ground?

I had to try a few times before I got the IDE light and Power light to work correctly on my 8hka+... Just keep trying until you get it...

I wish they would standardize the connectors on these, its always a pain...

D'oh. My fear was confirmed. I had figured there was something better than trial and error but I was mistaken. No worries! Thanks for the responses, I appreciate it.

Hehe every system I've ever built I've gotten at least one of those connectors backwards. :)

I'd think that the common color would be the ground wire so that would mean white would be ground. But every time I think I've figured it out, I'll get all of them backwards or something. It's silly...

I never had looked to see if cases vary on polarity versus color. That might make an interesting thread...

Like they all said, reverse the pin.

The STR issues on this mobo. A new bios update solved the probs.

Actually it`s quite easy to get those connections right start with the simple ones where you know the red wire is positive, black is ground etc , you know one side of the connector is labelled (HD,POWER etc)well with my Epox 8KHA+ board all the labelled sides of the connectors face the same way so that`s how I got mine all working right infact I had it right first time.

My optical mouse powers off when my PC(Epox 8KHA+) shuts down from Windows.

Here's a good tip I've picked up along the way. The "+" side of the connector has a small triangle imposed on the back.

I noticed that on my Antec 840. One stop in the MB manual and I found the way to turn one. After that, I matched up the rest.
