I just got my Epox 8kha+ and AMD XP1700 from newegg today.
When starting up i relazied it was only running at 1100mhz......
The CPU clock was set to 100 and the ratio was 11.....
What would be a safe way to get it running at 1470 mhz like it was listed as.....would i be better changing the ratio or the bus speeds or a little bit of both...
This was a retail CPU so i am using the AMD heatsink and fan.
Thanks....
Matt

You need to set a jumper on the motherboard. Change the setting from 100 Mhz (for Athlon Classic) to 133 Mhz (for the XP). I do not have my book in front of me so I can not tell you which one.

I'm running xp1900/Alpha8045/CorsairPC2400 @ 158Mhz/1.825V/2.7V 11x multiplier

Check the Epox forum over at amdmb.com for a great config guide for every aspect of the 8kha+ board. It helped me a lot with the initial setup and tweaking. :)

Don't for get to go to AMDMB go into their forums and look for the Epox thread, right at the beginning, someone did some BIOS settings to maxiumize the performace of the board.

I'm just about to buy a 266A motherboard and the Epox is at the top of my list. Other contenders is the Soyo Dragon Plus and the Abit KR7A Raid. What made you go for the Epox over the other 266A boards? Thanks for any comments.

For me, price of the board and stability, plus I'll trust the name and tech. support from the others that I wasn't familiar with too much, i.e. Soyo, etc.

...price and performance. I'm on my 3rd 8KHA+ - one was totally DOA and one was partially DOA. Reliability in usage seems good, but EPoX must have an above-average returns rate on this board. I'll only change mine now if (a) I fry it myself or (b) by mid/end of year it won't run Thoroughbred chips.
