I have an epox 8kda3j running an amd 64 3000+

i just bought the 8kda3j and it feels like my internet speed has slowed down...my quake 3 pings suck too

any ideas what this could be attributed to? i really don't understand it...but i bought this rig for quake 3 and doom 3 so this is pretty much making it worthless...

any help is GREATLY appreciated...

Hey slickr4,

I have had the same problem. BIOS updates won't help. From what I've read, there seems to be a problem with certain switches/routers communicating with the board. Epox told me to enter the MAC address manually. I had to re-install Windows to get a connection again, then I forced the connection speed to 10 Mbs. It worked again (not a hardware problem). So I changed the MAC address (it's on PCI slot #4 on a sticker), and reset the driver to "autonegotiate" with the switch. It has been working for a few days, but I still don't think it's as fast as it should be (Gaming is fine though). Several people have had complete disconnections (as I did). If it begins to interfere with gaming, I'll buy a PCI netcard and wait for a BIOS update from Epox.

If it's a known issue, I bet it is happening on the 8kda3+ as well.

What kind of hsf combos are you guys using on your mobo?

I was connected to an HP Procurve. I have subsequently moved to a Linksys router/switch. Epox told me to update to a recently-released driver. I'll keep you posted.
