Hi everybody, I'm a little bit confused. I'm going to buy an Athlon XP 2400+ and a new MB. Actually I don't know if to choose the EPoX 8K5A2+ or the EPoX 8K9A. I don't plan to use Raid and the special functions of 8K5A2+ but I do want to have an stable and overclockeable MB.

What shuold I do?

If you plan on keeping the system for more and 12-18 months then get the 8K9A+, as it has serial ata.

If you upgrade every 6-12 months then get the cheaper one. They both have the 8235 southbridge.

Hey cPKain, I am in the same boat. I am leaning towards the 8K9A because I don't want the raid or serial ata. Just want a simple board to overclock with my water cooling and a new 2400 XP. The 8K9A is supposed to unlock all the multipliers for the 2400XP, which is why I am leaning towards it. But, a lot of people seem not to like the KT400 chipset, but I have not heard a good arguement why. I need the board in the next few days, so waiting for the KT400a or the Nforce 2 is not an option. So, my questions to everyone are:
1) Does anyone have the 8K9A and what do you think of it?
2) Is there a good reason to avoid the 8K9A?
3) Should I go with the tried and true 8K5A?
Thanks, in advance, for any input.
