Epox 8k7a, viahm shows 2.5v as 1.5v! Win98 unstable, that the problem?

This is the system, building for a friend:

Epox 8k7a
1.4Ghz T-bird
Globalwin WBK38 i believe
128mb Kingston ram from Newegg (ya i know, should be crucial)
ATI Radeon DDR AGP
IBM 40GB 60GXP
Lite-On 16x10x40x

I can boot it up, and get it into windows fine, but many times as soon as it gets into windows it freezes or gives me BSOD. I go to change the video res, and it freezes. I downclocked it to 1050mhz for now just to see what's up, but that doesn't seem to help too too much, but it seems to let me get into windows better. Running Win98 first ed right now, need to get SE.

Thing that worries me is the 1.5v reading. that's the ram right? also, does it matter which slot it's in? Ihave an Enlight 7237 case from newegg with a 300w p/s. Ideas? If i can remember, the postman says FF, or 39

The voltage reading is normal, it might depend on which version of VIAHM you have, but that's what mine shows. What slots do you have your cards in? You don't have anything in PCI1 do you?

When you install the via drivers are you not installing the agp drivers and installing the agp drivers from amd?

I'm gonna have to re-work the drivers with it. What's the exact order then?

One of the drivers I went to install I got an error something wasnt in the windows folder. I'm gonna have him bring it into work so that I can work on it.

Once I install the OS, what's the exact order the drivers should be installed with? Should I just put 98se on it? or make him go buy WinMe...guess thats an entirely different topic 🙂

Other thing, when I try to update drivers on something, and it reboots (very fast!), it takes FOREVER sitting there saying 'please wait while windows updates your settings" in that little pop up window.

So...which drivers?

"Which drivers do I install first?" is like asking "How do I paint my house?" You're gonna get a different description from each person you ask. On the 8K7A what I did was install the OS, install the VIA 4-in-1's (except AGP), then the AMD AGP miniport. Then I got rid of the yellow question marks in the Device Manager, then I installed DX8, then my video drivers.
