I just installed my new processor(t-bird 1.33) and motherboard(epox 8k7a), and everything worked fine, without any problems. I also installed all of my other hardware (soundcards, modem, etc.) and they worked fine. However, after I downloaded and installed the VIA 4in1 drivers from VIA's website, I rebooted my computer, and everything went haywire. For some reason, my 2 cd-rom drives don't show up in My Computer, and do not exist in the device manager either. Also, in the device manager, under hard disk controllers, the "Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo)" has an exclamation mark next to it, and the properties say that it is either not installed, not working, etc. Can anyone help me with this? Everything was working fine before I installed the 4in1 drivers from the VIA website. I've heard of some issues between the Sound Blaster Live, which I have, and the epox motherboard.

Athlon Thunderbird 1.33GHz (OEM, 266fsb)
EPoX 8K7A
256mb PC2100 DDR SDRAM from Crucial
13.7GB Western Digital Hard drive
Sound Blaster Live! Value
Toshiba 8x/32x DVD-Rom
Hewlett Packard 8x/4x/24x CD-RW
Voodoo5 5500 AGP

you should install the via 4in1 right after you install the operating system, even before you add the pci cards and drivers.

ooops i better edit this

your motherboard has the amd northbridge and the via southbridge, so.... when you install the via drivers only install 3 part of them, not all 4, DO NOT install the via agp miniport drivers

but DO install the amd 761 agp miniport drivers (since its part of the amd 761 morthbridge)

i uninstalled the "via agp vxd" drivers, rebooted, and still no dice.
so, i went to setup again, and also uninstalled the "irq routing miniport driver", rebooted, and still the drives didnt show up. should i uninstall everything? if so, which of the drivers do i need? there are:
VIA ATAPI Vendor Support Driver
AGP VxD Driver
IRQ Routing Miniport Driver
VIA INF Driver 1.20

Exactly as toant103 said install stuff from cd, and
then and only then when you (if you do) experience problems
look for new drivers. You said everything was fine so I can't
figure out why would you install new ones.
