Epox 8k7a problems

Ok, so here's my setup: Epox 8k7a with 1.2 tbird, 256mb ram, all new drivers, original bios, two wd hard drives (30 gb each) a cdrw, a floppy, and a zip drive. If I connect everything but the zip drive it works fine, but with the zip drive plugged in anywhere on any chain on slave or master, it makes my windows startup screen take approx 15 minutes to load, with lots of freezing in the process bar. Also, my ata66 promise ide expansion card will detect none of my devices on it, and it gives me the message that "No ATA66 compatible bios is found" so Im screwed there too, installed all new drivers for that, only thing I havent done is flash the card's bios, which I will try next. Lastly, the mobo will not detect one of my hard drives as ata66, only 33, even though it is certified at 100. So any suggestions? I could use some. Thanks

why would you need additional ata66 card anyway? you have more than 4 ide devices?
if not better stick with onboard ide controller.

I really dont want to flash the mobo bios because I heard it degrades performance drastically, and I do have five devices: two wd 30gb, a zip drive, a cdrw, and a dvd drive. Thats why I need the Promise card. But I figured everything out, except the zip drive. If I plug it in as a slave, it detects it in the bios, but then it will not go to the loading screen for win2k, it just stops with a black screen. Are there any incompatibilities with the EPOX 8K7A to internal zip drives, or should I call to see if my warranty is still in check ??? 😉 Let me know, thanks.

I had problems getting my zip drive to work too. I have seen several posts with the same problem. I have a CDRW so I just put the zip back in my old computer that I gave to my girlfriend. I never used it anyway.

flash the BIOS...how hard is it to dl a file and unzip it to a disk and press F2. That new bios...is made to increase performence...whoever told u that horse crap doesn't know what he's talking about.
