Epox 8K7A+ Motherboard Problems

I just installed my EPOX 8K7A+ Motherboard and I have the following problems.

1. When I perform a cold boot I receive the error message:

The System is in Over Clock Fail.

Please setup CPU Host Clock in Freq/Voltage Control Setup

I set the Frequency/Voltage Control to the following.

Autodetect - Disable

Speed Spectrum - Enabled

CPU Clock - 133

I tried many different variations and I still receive the same error message.

On a System Restart or a Warm Boot I do not receive this error message.

2. I have some Hardware incompatibilities with the Diamond Viper II AGP Graphics Card.

I set the Viper II to AGP 2X instead of 4X, and the matching Motherboard settings to 2X also.

I cannot reload the Diamond Viper II Graphics Card Device Drivers.

Everytime time that I reload the Diamond Viper II Drives, it hangs the Computer.

3. I do have a Sound Blaster Live PCI Card and my sound works perfectly.

Anything that I should know about this Card causing any incompatibilities?

4. The Windows ME OS System seems to hesitate when I run Control Panel and many other Programs.

I did reinstall Windows ME on top of itself, but I still receive this hesitation on many of the Programs.

5. My previous Motherboard was an ASUS A7V with an AMD Athlon 1.33 GHZ 266 FSB CPU.

My current new Motherboard is a EPOX 8K7A+ with an AMD Athlon 1.4 GHZ 266 FSb CPU.

How was my older Computer System with the ASUS A7V Motherboard run cleaner and had no compatibility problems with any of daughter Cards, when the EPOX 8K7A+ Motherboard should blow the ASUS A7V Motherboard away?

Should I have installed Windows ME on a clean System, instead of over itself?

6. I did download the latest BIOS from the EPOX Web Site.

Did you try to set the multiplier to 10.5 with the dip switches, this may help you. Have you overclocked the bus speed if so put it to 133 and see what happens. Also you may check your memory timing to see if it is set right. Also make sure the 100-133 jumper is set to 133 it is set at 100 from the factory.

I also had the same problems, all the jumpers were right, removed everything but the video card, tried it with another video card, tried it with another stick of ram, flashed the bios, made sure I had all the drivers installed, that didn't matter was getting the same message with or without the drivers installed, finally rma'd it back to newegg, they took it without question, right now waiting for new board to return......good luck
