Hi gang. I just built my first computer this past weekend. Everythings up and running but occassionally i recieve the following message"

"Warning this system is over-clock fail. Please setup CPU Host in Frequency/Voltage Control Setup"

I left all mobo settings to default and have not taken any steps to unlock my processor. What does this error message mean and am I in danger?

I appreciate your input. Awesome thanks.

Mine does the same thing. I haven't been able to figure it out either. I just go into the BIOS and then quit without saving changes. It reboots and everything is fine. I haven't had any problems with my CPU yet, so I think this message is just a fluke.

I got that message last night after a reboot, went into the bios looked around at stuff including temps and I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I've restarted several times since then and it hasn't happened again since.....

what do you know, I got that message pretty often in the past 2 days with my new mobo, My Mobo/Cpu/ram screwed up so bad that it wouldn't boot unless i had a deskfan blowing at it(normal case temp was 37C MAX, amd recommend no higher then 42). anyway after a day of instability and bluescreen problems, the mobo stopped powering on, I just sent it back today. You better prey you don't have the same problem as me. Anyway, it may be due to a bit of overheating during boot up but if it runs stable in windows running Seti for 20 mins then it should be fine, if not you should consider a better heatsink. check you clock speed and jumpers i.e 100/133 fsb

The message happens when the system fails to boot due to high overclock. The system can't post at a high setting. Usually due to RAM cause it will post 90% of the tim eeven if the CPU is overclocked really high. It won't run but it will post. If it only happens randomly I don't know what to tell you if you aren't overclocking anthing. Just kinda tweaked. Maybe power supply or flaky RAM is about it. Otherwise it should be fine.

Thanks for the input xSuicidaLx!
Looks like were all in the same boat more or less. I haven't tweaked anything on my rig (more on that later) and the error message hasn't shown up in over two days. Hopefully this little anomoly will just disappear. I have no complaints about my mobo, but while playing Black&White i get minor hiccups in my fps - craving more speed. I see two options:

1.) How should I go about configuring my KyroII card? OpenGL vs 3d??something? Could someone direct me to an article what would explain the in/outs of GraphicCard settings, optimal settings for specific games (Q3, BW, Unreal, T2, HL)

2.) I'd wanna push my Duron 750, but I'm hesitant cause the Epox 8k7a isn't a novice friendly board. Article recommendation for a first time oc?
