Does the non-raid version of the 8k7a have four ide channels or just two? I know the raid has four (2 raids and 2 ata100), but I'm not gonna use raid at all, just separate drives (all 5 of them!). All the pictures I've seen of the non-raid version show four ide chans, but only describe two of them. So with 5 hdd's, zip, cdrw and dvdrom, I could squeeze them all onto a board with four ide chans, but I'd rather stay away from using a PCI controller if I can simply have it integrated onto the board.
Anyway, if someone could please give me a straight answer to this I'd really appreciate it,

Yup, just two IDE channels. Sorry :( . Looks like you'll need to buy a separate controller or buy the RAID version.

I'm not sure exactly which wagon I'm gonna dive into (either SDR or DDR), but if it's SDR, it'll be the A7V133 hands down since its got the channels I need (hopefully the problem with the zip not working won't plague me, but knowing my luck it definitely will). DDR's a different story...maybe wait for the a7v266 (hopefully will have 4 channs?? anyone know about this at all??) or go with the 8k7a+...i'm gonna buy sometime towards the middle of august, so i've got some time but i wanna keep on top of developments as they come out and not have to rush at the last second.

well...i'd choose the a7v133 if i went into sdr for more reasons that simply having the channels obviously!! (not THAT narrow-minded)
