Epox 8k7a... high pitched whining sound?

There's a high pitched whining sound coming from my case, and I can't seem to find out where it's coming from. I've isolated each individual fan (northbridge, hsf, case fan), temporarily stopping them with my finger, but the sound continues.

I guess it could be the PSU fan or could it be that my 5v rail is at 4.75v? It's really annoying that I can't figure it out.

Here's my system specs:

Motherboard: Epox 8K7A - Rev 1.1 - Bios 10/17/01
Processor: AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.4GHz@1.4GHz (266FSB, AYHJA)
Heatsink: Mighty Machine (ThermalRight SK-6 + The Funnel + case80HO 40CFM)
Case: Antec SX630 - 300watt Antec PP303X
Memory: 256MB Crucial PC2100 CAS2.5, Non-ECC
CD-Writer: Plextor 16x10x40x w/ BURN-Proof
Hard Drive: Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 40GB ATA100 7200RPM
Video Card: Visiontek Geforce 3
Sound Card: Philips Acoustic Edge 5.1
NIC: Linksys Etherfast LNEPCI II
Operating System: Windows 98SE

The loudest parts in my computer are my harddrives and PSU, in that order. I wouldn't considering it "whining" myself, but if I had to say one was "whining" then it would be my harddrives. I have the same Maxtors that you have, although I have two in RAID. Unplug your harddrive and power up, that's probably it.

thanks, you were both right. i went out to fry's today and bought an 80 gig seagate barracuda iv.
man is it quiet now. thanks a lot.
