I'm not a power computer whiz guy, I never before built a system from scratch, and I bought this motherboard. Everything went smoothly. I didn't have a single problem setting it up. I bought 512 MB of Crucial PC2100 DDR SDRAM, a 1.2 GHz Athlon 266 FSB cpu, a new WD 30GB 7200 RPM ata 100 Hard drive, an Inwin S508 case, and a Creative Labs PCI modem new. All the other components I robbed from my old PC. I've been running it continuously since May 15th. No problems whatsoever.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I have a quick newbie question, for Cepak or anyone else with this board. Hopefully, if my case arrives today (damn UPS - can't get from South Bend, IN to Michigan in 3 days!?!), then I will put together my 8K7A/1.333GHz T-Bird/Crucial PC2100 DDR SDRAM-based system tonight (and then I can give accurate feedback to the originator of this thread). I have read a lot of posts about which drivers to install, how to put it together, etc. - but one question I have that I haven't found an answer to:

do I need to change anything in the BIOS or change any of the jumpers to get this Epox board running. I'm not looking to overclock right off the bat (that will be my next step down the line, but I need to research) - I just want it to run properly. Will everything work within the BIOS and using the default jumpers, or do I need to make some changes (or suggested changes to make it run "better")? Any help from those who have this board would be GREATLY appreciated.

All you need to do is make sure that the 100/133 jumper is set to 133 since you have a 1.33 Tbird. Leave the rest at default until you get everything installed. Unless you need to change the boot order or something like that. Then let the tweaking begin.

I second that. Just do the 133 jumper and disable the on board sound in bios if you have a soundcard. There are 2 spots to disable it so make sure you get both. If you are installing Win2K you might want to set the bios to boot from cd 2nd. Other than that leave everything normal.

As a followup:

Thanks to all for your help (not just in this thread, but forum-wide)! I got it up and running and everything is going great. I was sweating the install of the Taisol heatsink, but I eventually got the "testicular-fortitude" to just do it. And to think, a few weeks ago, I was all set to plop down a significant amount of coin on a P4 1.5GHz at Gateway or Dell. Then I found Anandtech, and the rest is history! Anyway, back to the thread topic:

MDM1- I don't know your level of expertise, or whatever, but this board was easy to set up and install (even for me). Obviously I haven't had it long enough to give your performance feedback, but I've seen nothing but positive words in regards to this board.
