Epox 8K7A and Printer/Parallel port problem?

I originally posted this on MOtherboard forum but no one responded so Im hoping to get a responce here:

I think (and I'm stressing THINK) I read a while ago that the Epox 8K7A had some kind of parallel port problem.

Is/was there any problem regarding the parallel port or should I lay off the crack pipe for a while?

I'm asking because I'm trying to get my roomie's printer to work on my semi-new machine. I left my old printer back home. I've never tried any other printers with this machine.

For some reason, Windows detects the modem, software installs fine, drivers install fine, but software can't communicate with the printer when trying to print.

It's an Epson Stylus 880. USB is in worse condition than parallel.

The motherboard won't POST on the problematic system, if the printer is connected to parallel port.

So you're problem "might" be something else. That's what I remember 🙂

if you're using a win9x/ME OS then check in device manager to see if the lpt1 port is enabled.
check that the port is enabled in bios as well!
