Hi!
Just got a AMD XP1600+ processor, replacing my 1.2ghz Thunderbird 266.
Installed it on my EPOX 8K7a+ motherboard which I never really had any problems with. Used to run Windows98se and Windows2000.
But now when I put on the new processor it is impossible to install Windows2000 or WindowsXP UNLESS I turn off the CPU internal cache!!! In Windows98 it's no problem.
So when I turn off the internal processor cache, win2000 and XP starts but very sloooow! Took me 36 hours to install XP, that slow.
Seems like the same problem in Win2000 and XP, the startup stops when it counts down to 6 in the disk check procedure.
I have the latest EPOX bios dated 17.10 and 2x256mb Apacer CL2 memory installed.
If anybody has any knowledge or any tips on how I can solve this problem, I would really apreciate you posting.
Thanks,
Jostein K
