The 8K7A is based on the AMD 760 chipset and has only 2 DDR-SDRAM slots for memory. The 8KHA is based on the VIA KT266 chipset and has 3 DDR-SDRAM slots for memory. The 8K7A is slightly faster overall than the 8KHA, but the 8KHA usually runs about $20 less than the 8K7A. The 8K7A is one of the most popular boards right now, but I went with the 8KHA, and I don't see any problem with the performance. The difference is negligible and only a few percentage points in benchmarks, so since the specs of the boards (# of PCI slots, onboard sound) are nearly identical with the exception of number of DIMM slots for memory, then I'd say go with what's more affordable for you. I saved $20 and lost a little bit of performance, but one would only ever notice it if benchmarks were run.
