Epox 8K7A + 2x256MB Crucial PC2100 Cas2.5 = Trouble Playing High-End Games???

I had my 2x256mb Crucial PC2100 with settings 8-8-8-2-6-2-2, that's been fine w/o any problems. But now that I have DUNE 3 installed in Win2k, every time I play the game it crashes at the menu.

I ended up setting RAM back to Autodetect, and that seems to have fixed it. The game playes normal now...but I hope it wont' crash too much.

Anyone else having problems running 2 sticks of PC2100 on Epox 8k7A? I have the regular, aka "non-ECC, non-registered" DDR Ram. It would suck if I can't set the ram at Cas2!!!

Anyone else running 2x256mb Crucial not at Autodetect? What's your settings? Thanks.

If it really is the ram raise your ram voltage.

It's already at +0.1v by default on 8K7A. Another 0.1v would be okay? anyone done that? I heard too high would actually reduce stability. headache.

Im running my ram at 155 and bumped up the ram volts one setting I did not even try it at default and my setting are 8882222 and it is rock stable in Serious Sam, Quake III and Halflife

Dune 3? When did that come out..sounds interesting. Is it a newer game or an older one? I would think if Serious Sam works fine along with Q3, your problem is with that game...not your mainboard or RAM.

Dune 3, really called "Emperor: Battle for Dune" came out just this week. Very nice 3D RTS game. but takes quite abit of memory and CPU to run. Even my 1.2 Ghz slowed down with many units around. Probably TNT2's fault, but I don't think the loading part is anything but the RAM thing. I saw a Win2k "error in memory address...blah blah" sort of message.

I'll try more games when I have a chance.
