Epox 8k7a 2100 vs NOW 2700??

Hello,

When I originally bought the Epox 8k7a, the choice was between DDR 1600? and 2100. (Maybe not 1600, but 2100 was the speedier of the 2 at the time.) Anyways, when I check out the crucial webpage I find the new 2700 RAM. I have 2 256 sticks at 2100. Is it possible to upgrade to the 2700 speed RAM without overclocking? I am kind of confused as to how RAM speeds work. Is it just a matter of adjusing the FSB? My cpu is the 2100+ (not a thoroughbred). If someone could lay this all out for me how 1600 vs 2100 vs 2700 works I would be much obliged.

unless the BIOS can do pc2700(166) ..you would probably not see the benefit ..

with that mobo I'd either grab that single stick 512mb pc2100 that is a deal over Hot Deals forum ...or an Nforce2 mobo would love those 2 sticks of pc2100 Crucial ..

If I used those 2 2100 sticks, could I run an 8RDA in synchronous mode or whatever? Can someone explain to me how that works ? I would be using a 2100+.

I think I got it figured out. The XP 2100+ runs at a 266 FSB. DDR 2100 runs at this speed too.

So it would be possible to run these a non-thoroughbred 2100+ in synchronous mode with pc2100?

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

example:
synchronous = cpu and memory bus @ 133
asynchronous = cpu @ 133 & memory @ 166

the 8k7a & the plus version are synchronus only boards.

OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Heh heh. Here I am looking for a feature that I have, kinda...

Thx for clarifying that.
